CHAPTER 19. Exchange rates and competitiveness indices

The set of series on Spain's competitiveness offered to date in this chapter has been broadened. It now includes a new table, as a result of which Spain's competitiveness indices are included in tables 19.6 and 19.7. Further to this change, the effective exchange rates of other countries are now disseminated in table 19.8.

Table 19.6. Spain's competitiveness indices vis-à-vis the euro area and the EU 27

This reflects Spain's competitiveness indices vis-à-vis the euro area and the European Union (EU-27) calculated using the following deflators: harmonised indices of consumer prices (HICP), producer price indices, indices of total unit labour costs and of manufacturing unit labour costs (only vis-à-vis the euro area), and indices of export unit values.

Table 19.7. Spain's competitiveness indices vis-à-vis the developed countries, industrialised countries and newly industrialised Asian countries

This reflects Spain's competitiveness indices vis-à-vis the developed countries, industrialised countries and newly industrialised Asian countries, calculated using the following deflators: consumer price indices (CPI), producer price indices, manufacturing unit labour costs indices and export unit values indices (for the two latter deflators, vis-à-vis the developed countries only).
