CHAPTER 2. MAIN ECONOMIC INDICATORS

See additions to chapter 19

CHAPTER 4. CREDIT INSTITUTIONS

The notes at the end of the chapter are extended and made more specific in respect of some of the items in the tables. The following breakdowns have also been included in the tables:

Table 4.5 Credit institutions. Liabilities. Other resident sectors

A memorandum item is added with the amount of deposits vis-à-vis other resident sectors to be broken down by province in tables 4 .33 to 4.35 (col. 13)

Table 4.7 Credit institutions. Capital and reserves

Within the value adjustments for asset impairment, those specific to loans are detailed (column 12)

Table 4.10 Loans from credit institutions to other resident sectors classified as doubtful and value adjustments for asset impairment

The amounts for doubtful loans and value adjustments due to financing for house purchases and house renovation are separated. Accordingly, the previous order of the columns in the table changes.

Tables 4.13 to 4.17 Loans from credit institutions to "Other resident sectors", by purpose of loan

The series of home mortgage loans intended for purposes other than house purchase (column 13) is included in these tables.

Tables 4.33 to 4.35 Deposits of the sectors "General government" and "Other resident sectors" in the aggregate of banks, savings banks and credit co-operatives, and in each of the groups of institutions they comprise

The amounts relating to funds raised in transfers of financial assets withheld by the institution (in full or in part) on its balance sheet and the amount of covered bonds assimilable to deposits (hitherto these amounts featured in this section) have been removed from under the "Unclassified" heading.

Tables 4.55, 4.57, 4.65, .4.67, 4.75, 4.77 and 4.85 relating to the different groupings of units (banks, savings banks, etc.) making up Credit Institutions have been altered insofar as the tables relating to Credit Institutions have been too.

CHAPTER 8. OTHER MONETARY FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

Table 8.26 Loans and credits from OMFIs to other resident sectors in Spain, by sub-sector

Specific breakdowns of credit extended to households which had hitherto been in this table have been moved to the new table 8.27.

Table 8.27 Breakdown of loans and credit extended by OMFIs to households

This table, a new addition to the present Boletín, offers a breakdown, based on quarterly information, of loans and credit extended by OMFIs to households by purpose and by guarantee

Tables 8.28 to 8.30

As a result of the publication of the new table 8.27, former tables 8.27 to 8.29 are now numbered 8.28 to 8.30.

CHAPTER 19. EXCHANGE RATES AND COMPETITIVENESS INDICES

On 19 January 2007, the European Central Bank began to disseminate Harmonised Competitiveness Indicators for the euro area countries, based on consumer price indices. As a result, the series of tables 2.10, 19.6 and 19.7 relating to indices of competitiveness have been recompiled. The weights calculated by the ECB, obtained from the manufacturing trade figures for the period 1999-2001, have been used as from 1999 for the aggregates. The economic areas vis-à-vis which these indicators are obtained have also altered, with series now compiled for the EU-27 and for the newly industrialised Asian countries.
