The European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices comprises the Central Balance Sheet Data Offices of the central banks of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, as well as similar units in the statistical offices of Finland and the Netherlands and the Italian Centrale dei Bilanci.
The Committee was set up in 1987 and has since then been pooling the experience of these institutions with a view to improving the analysis of the information provided by non-financial corporations, refining data collection and processing techniques in the institutional sector and engaging in joint analysis and research work. As a result of the collaboration between central balance sheet offices, several international sectoral studies are available to reporting corporations and the general public, and other papers have also been recently published or are under preparation.
